Of bits of bad advice
“Share a toothbrush?….That’s the worst advice you could ever give”
Marcus Bronzy – First Direct Bad Advice Campaign
When First Direct wanted to take a fun swipe at the nonsense you find online, they turned to actual human beings who know how to entertain, inform, and react fast—Marcus Bronzy and Aurie Styla.
What followed was a two-part social campaign that saw the duo react to hilariously bad travel advice found online. From taping your debit card to your chest to peeing on jellyfish stings (seriously), this content series poked fun at “travel experts” while highlighting a simple message: if you want good advice, talk to First Direct.
What Went Down
We kept it authentic, reactive, and seriously funny. Across two sessions, Marcus and Aurie delivered:
-
🎙️ Hilarious podcast-style TikToks roasting viral bad travel tips
-
🎬 Short-form sketch moments mixed with genuine travel truths
-
🔁 A rolling wave of engagement, shares, and user interaction
Topics ranged from:
-
“Wear all your clothes to avoid baggage fees”
-
“Gaffer tape your wallet to your torso”
-
“Bring your own food on holiday”
-
“Always trust a friend’s review (even if you’ve never met their friend)”
All real advice. All publicly roasted.
Why It Mattered
This campaign proved that smart brand messaging doesn’t have to feel like an ad. It can be funny. It can be reactive. It can start real conversations.
